"100% qualified rate, 99.5% excellent rate"

The high-pressure welder of Shanxi Electric Power Construction Company, where Jia Xiangdong is located, is mainly engaged in the welding work in the construction of thermal power plants. Usually, the pressure of the welded boiler pipeline is between 20 MPa and 30 MPa. If the pressure is calculated at 27 MPa, it is equivalent to the pressure of 270 kg per square centimeter. If there is a slight defect in the weld joint, explosion may occur. Jia Xiangdong often faces difficult work.

Once, two reheater pipes leaked in the emergency repair of Shentou No. 2 Power Plant and need to be replaced. The leaking position is in the middle of the row. Eight rows of pipes outside the leaking point must be cut to form a space of about 80 cm in length and 30 cm in width to replace the leaking pipe. The skinny Jia sits eastward on the replaced pipeline. The space is narrow and he can't turn around. The heat wave makes people unable to breathe. The cut pipeline can only see half of the pipeline. The welding of the other half of the passage can't be seen at all.

But this can not help but "Da Na" Jia Xiangdong. He fixed a small mirror at an angle with a wire, and judged the welding pool by the reflection of the mirror. The rest depended on the heart and feeling. Nine rows of pipelines and 36 welds, half of which are blind spots. However, Jia Xiangdong finished it in only one day, and the exquisite shape and quality of the welds amazed the people present.

When Jia Xiangdong welded a row of four welded joints, the inspector would take X-ray from the front to test. The results showed that "the middle of the welded joints is white, showing a beautiful convex circle like a bracelet, and the texture is uniform and qualified."

Master Fan Ruqi said, "Jia Xiangdong's welder steel seal code 126 has appeared tens of thousands of times in 15 power plants in China. His welding pass rate is 100%, and the excellent rate is over 99.5%.

During the overhaul of a power plant in Zhejiang Province, the casting line on the giant import valve was treated as a welding crack because of misinspection, and a hole was cut. That valve is a new imported material, rarely repaired, poor weldability, welding slightly inadvertent will appear cracks. Because the valve is too big and irregular, it can not be preheated and post-weld heat treatment.

Jia Xiangdong was doing other maintenance work in the power plant at that time. After searching for detailed information and repeatedly demonstrating, he submitted a welding repair plan to the power plant. According to his technological design, the welding was successful once and a fine "precision repair operation" was achieved, which is still popular today.

In March 2002, Jia Xiangdong became a welder of Shanxi Electric Power Construction Company 2. First-time welder, every day boring grinding, fixing, welding, inspection, he did meticulous; welding rod, steel plate cost is high, he cut the waste one by one to join together, many times practice; he usually speak very little, but in the face of problems, it is a well-known "100,000 why". Over two months, he has mastered the basic skills of flat welding, vertical welding, horizontal welding and upright welding.

At the end of 2002, Jia Xiangdong began to contact with the welding of medium and low pressure pipelines; in 2004, when he was trained as a high pressure welder ahead of schedule because of his outstanding achievements, he and his colleagues were still in the middle pressure welder section; after 2007, whenever the enterprise succeeded in bidding, he used his work as a demonstration welding model.

In order to make his welding technology tend to be good, Jia Xiangdong often practices like this: putting the weld intentionally in the position that can not be seen directly by the eyes, after welding, grinding the interlayer with a grinder to see if there are defects, using a small flashlight to see the back of the weld, or simply re-cutting, to observe whether the width of the weld is symmetrical, whether the height difference, whether the ripple is round or not.

He said that doing so is not only for the owners, but more importantly for themselves.

Because of his excellence, Jia Xiangdong, 23, won the 2nd Shanxi Employees'Vocational Skills Competition for the first time in 2006; he won the 2nd and 1st place in the two national Employees' Vocational Skills Competitions in 2009 and 2012; Jia Xiangdong was awarded the National Labor Model in 2010 and employed as the Production Skills of the National Electric Power Technology Institute in 2011. In 2015, Jia Xiangdong was invited to Beijing to participate in the "9.3 Parade". In 2016, Jia Xiangdong became part-time vice chairman of Shanxi Federation of Trade Unions and the 16th Executive Committee of Shanxi Province.

Despite honor, Jia Xiangdong is still busy with enterprises and projects. Now, he is teaching his technology and experience to welders all over the country without reservation.
